Norwegian Wood

I was rather excited about going to see Norwegian Wood. Rinko Kikuchi was really enchanting in Babel anyway, but Norwegian Wood has to be in the top 10 books that really affected how I look at the world.

The film is not very faithful to the book. That said, slavish devotion to a novel is something I usually abhor in a film adaptation. It's beautifully shot, the art direction, costumes, props and set design are gorgeous too. The best thing has to be the Jonny Greenwood score, though, which proves that he actually should be the driving force in Radiohead. It made me think of Goreçki.

The acting is decent and the Japanese was easy enough to understand. I don't think it will ever be my favourite film but it was great to look at for two hours.
